If you're a U.S. resident, you probably heard of Chick-Fil-A. Even though the company has restaurants outside of the United States, many people in Europe for example have never heard of this fast food chain. However, they seem to be opening up new locations as we speak. So who knows everyone will at some point know about their existence. With more than 2500 locations across the U.S., people enjoy their typical chicken sandwiches, burritos, nuggets, muffins and biscuits every day. Whether you sit inside, pass their drive thru or simply choose for delivery, there are always a few questions people ask themselves. In this article I share some of the most frequently asked questions about Chick-Fil-A. 1. Is Chick-Fil-A a restaurant? Yes, Chick-Fil-A is a restaurant. Every fast food chain that serves paid meals and allows people to take a seat is in fact considered to be a restaurant. But I get the confusion since people often think of restaurants being more exclusive with waiters and waitresses helping you out for hours. 2. Why are Chick-Fil-A employees so happy? Chick Fil-A employees are so happy because the company selects people with a motivated mindset. Furthermore, they've been trained to keep their customers satisfied. Chick-Fil-A tries to create a pleasant work environment, which even results in good friendships among employees. 3. Can I get my Chick-Fil-A sandwich well done? You can ask a Chick-Fil-A employee to prepare your sandwich well done. Some people prefer to have their chicken cooked a little longer because it makes their sandwich crispier. If you ask for well done chicken, chances are you'll have to wait a little longer. 4. Can you ask for extra sauce at Chick-Fil-A? It's no problem to ask for extra sauce at Chick-Fil-A. Usually they won't charge you extra, and you'll get 5 or 6 packs with your meal. If you want more, maybe they'll charge you for that. Simply ask the employee about possible additional costs in case you need a lot of extra sauce. 5. Does Chick-Fil-A give free water? Water is usually free at Chick-Fil-A, and so are water refills. Some fast food restaurants offer free water, usually in small cups. Bigger water bottles are often charged. It all depends on the company and their policies. To be absolutely sure, just ask. 6. Does Chick-Fil-A have free refills? Refills for soft drinks are free at Chick-Fil-A. Lemonade and sweet tea refills are free of charge as well. Of course, this offer only works as long as you're actually in their restaurant. Once you leave it's probably not allowed to come back only because you want a free refill. Some locations could decide to limit free refills, so maybe it's wise to always ask politely to be absolutely sure. 7. Does Chick-Fil-A have Coke Zero? Yes, you can order Coke Zero at Chick-Fil-A restaurants. They added quite a lot of drinks to their menu, like Coca Cola, Dr Pepper, Sprite and more. They even have Diet Dr Pepper. 8. Does Chick-Fil-A have root beer? Chick-Fil-A offers root beer to it's customers. Their restaurants have a variety of drinks, from Coca Cola to Sprite, and from sweet tea to root beer. However, at this moment, I can't find their root beer on their website. Maybe things changed recently, or maybe it depends on the location you're visiting. If you need to be absolutely sure, give them a call. 9. Does Chick-Fil-A have normal fries? Chick-Fil-A doesn't serve normal fries. They have so called "waffle potato fries", which look like little waffles. It's not uncommon for a fast food chain to distinguish themselves in certain ways. Some people even say their waffle fries are tastier than normal fries, but of course that's a personal thing. 10. Does Chick-Fil-A have large fries? Chick-Fil-A serves small, medium and large waffle potato fries. They're very crispy and come with a little sea salt. 11. Does Chick-Fil-A use mayo? Chick-Fil-A does not use mayo on their meals. If you want mayo you'll have to add it yourself. Mayo packs are available in their restaurants. If you want mayo from their drive thru, simply ask them to add it to your order. If you have Chick-Fil-A delivered, make sure to inquire if mayo packs are added to your bag, or simply have some at home. 12. Why is Chick-Fil-A so strict with breakfast? Chick-Fil-A has to be strict with breakfast to meet the demand for their other dishes. Their grills are limited, so they have to switch from breakfast to other menu items before lunch rush. It's impossible to reserve a portion of their grill for breakfast throughout the day, as this would limit their capacity for people coming in for lunch or dinner. 13. Does Chick-Fil-A have waffle fries for breakfast? You can order waffle fries for breakfast at Chick-Fil-A. They usually prepare them for any customer who asks for them in the morning. However, it could take a couple of minutes before they're ready. So, if you're in a hurry, maybe not a great idea. 14. Does Chick-Fil-A have nuggets in the morning? It's usually no problem to have nuggets if you visit Chick-Fil-A in the morning. However, chances are they're not already prepared, which means you'll have to wait for quite a bit. Some restaurants may not serve them in the morning, but if you want some it's perfectly fine to ask. 15. Why did Chick-Fil-A get rid of their brownies? Chick-Fil-A got rid of their brownies because there was a decrease in demand. Even though they could have decided to continue to offer brownies, removing the item allowed the restaurant to prepare and add another dish to their menu. 16. Does Chick-Fil-A have free wifi? Most Chick-Fil-A restaurants have free wifi for their customers. It's one of the things they do to create and maintain customer satisfaction. However, some of their restaurants might not offer wifi at certain times. The local manager could decide to put wifi down for various reasons. Offering wifi attracts a lot of people to their restaurants. 17. Does Chick-Fil-A accept 50 or 100 dollar bills? It's usually fine to pay with 50 or 100 dollar bills at Chick-Fil-A, especially when it's crowded and there's enough cash to give you back. Even though it's rare for them to not have change from a 50 or 100 dollar bill, exceptions are possible. Make sure to ask the employee, especially if you want to pay with a 100 dollar bill. 18. Is there a Chick-Fil-A in Abu Dhabi? At this moment there's no Chick-Fil-A in Abu Dhabi. You won't find one of their restaurants in the United Arab Emirates at all. Abu Dhabi rules make it very hard for many fast food chains to open their doors within the city. 19. What is the busiest Chick-Fil-A in the United States? In the United States, the Midtown Manhattan 1000 6th Ave Chick-Fil-A restaurant in New York city is the busiest. They receive more than 3000 orders every day, which is the record at this moment. Expect this location to be very crowded. 20. Can Chick-Fil-A employees accept tips? Chick-Fil-A employees are not supposed to accept tips. It's against the company's policy to do so. I experienced the same at Popeyes. However, some other fast food chains allow you to tip, it's just not that common (anymore). 21. Do you tip Chick-Fil-A delivery drivers? The short answer to this question is no. Chick-Fil-A drivers are not supposed to accept tips. However, some people do give them a tip whenever they have their food delivered. Just keep in mind that tips are not expected. 22. Do you tip at the Chick Fil-A drive thru? Since Chick-Fil-A employees are not allowed to accept tips, it's not common nor expected that you pay tips at their drive thru. Some people decide to leave a tip, but don't think that you should. 23. Does Chick-Fil-A have a tip jar? Not that I'm aware of. Since employees are not supposed to accept tips in the first place, I don't think you'll ever come across a tip jar at Chick-Fil-A. Talking about tips, I always prefer a restaurant with a tip jar, just like Starbucks for example (also read my Starbucks faq). Not all employees get the chance to meet the customers directly, like the kitchen staff for example. I guess tips will always occur here and there, and it would be nice to spread those tips equally. But well, since tips are not allowed or expected, maybe their total amount is limited. 24. Does Chick-Fil-A treat their employees well? Chick-Fil-A treats their employees very well. It's one of the reasons why their employees are usually very friendly and happy to help. The company aims to make everyone feel as a family that's working together. On Sundays, Thanksgiving and Christmas their restaurants are closed, which means nobody has to offer their well deserved quality time. Some people even say that Chick-Fil-A employees are one of the nicest they ever met in a fast food restaurant. 25. Why does Chick-Fil-A have employees outside? Chick-Fil-A has employees outside at their drive thru in order to make the process as quick and smooth as possible. You often see them at lunch time because that's usually the busiest moment of the day. But they can be there at any given moment, depending on the location and how many people are visiting. 26. How do I quit Chick-Fil-A? If you want to quit your Chick-Fil-A job, you need to fill in and hand over your two weeks notice. It's always a nice gesture to explain why you decided to quit, even though you don't necessarily have to. If you enjoyed your job, I'd suggest you to explain your decision so they understand your reasoning. It can also be of help to the company. 27. Why does Chick-Fil-A make me poop? Chick-Fil-A can result in extra toilet time for some people because of certain spices. Spicy sauces or even pepper are common reasons. It all depends on the person and how they react to various foods. Some people seem to have less toilet problems than others. 28. Can I add receipts to my Chick-Fil-A app? Yes, you can add receipts to your Chick-Fil-A app. You need to go to your transaction history and select the option "submit a missed transaction". Fill in the required details about your receipt and you should be done. If it doesn't work, or if the app changed, get in touch with the company.
